Are you a meticulous and skilled Machine Operative with a knack for precision and a passion for cutting-edge machinery? We are looking for an experienced Machine Operative to join our growing team. If you have hands-on experience with equipment such as saws, press brakes, and lasers, we want to hear from you!

Roles and Responsibilities of a Machine Operative

  • Precision Measurement and Marking: Take precise measurements and mark materials accurately for cutting or shaping.
  • Job Planning: Strategically plan the sequence of necessary actions to complete each job efficiently and accurately.
  • Machine Operation: Select and operate the appropriate machines (e.g., Saw, Press Brake, and Laser) and ensure materials are positioned or loaded correctly.
  • Continuous Monitoring: Vigilantly monitor machine operations, adjust feed rates, maintain optimal temperatures, and promptly identify any issues.
  • Batch Programming: Determine and program the size of batches and set the machine speed for optimal performance.
  • Quality Control: Monitor output consistently to ensure it meets specifications, promptly discarding any defective pieces.

 

Person Specification for a Machine Operative

  • Previous experience of working on machinery such as Press Brakes, Saws and Laser machinery.
  • Strong knowledge of common safety protocols and protective equipment usage.
  • Exceptional manual dexterity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members.
  • Hands-on experience in using and programming manual, semi-automated, or automated tools and machines, including saws, press brakes, and lasers.
  • Proficiency with precision tools for accurate measurements.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and manuals.
  • In-depth understanding of metal properties and other materials.
  • Strong mathematical skills and analytical abilities for precise job execution

Hours of work for a Machine Operative are Monday to Thursday - 8am-5pm and Fridays 8am-4.30pm
