Job Description: Senior Welding/Fabrication Supervisor

Our award-winning manufacturing client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Welding/Fabrication Supervisor to join their dynamic team in Wakefield immediately on a permanent basis!

Production Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the activities of team leaders and production operatives under your direction.
  • Organise and control work within departments/sections according to the production plan and priorities set by the General Manager.
  • Ensure timely completion of work within allocated time and customer requirements.
  • Control and manage Indirect Hours.
  • Safely and effectively use and store materials within your department.
  • Set and monitor target hours for jobs within your team's department.
  • Maintain and repair plant, equipment, and tools in collaboration with the Maintenance department and General/Production Manager.

HR Responsibilities:

  • Monitor attendance and absence.
  • Resolve conflicts within your team and assist other senior supervisors in resolving disputes in their teams.
  • Enforce discipline within departments/sections using company policies and processes as needed.
  • Ensure proper induction of new/transferred employees in accordance with company procedures, including safety, health, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) guidance and precautions.
  • Provide training for production operatives in tasks within the department using the company's training process.
  • Conduct formal disciplinary reviews, return to work interviews, and minor disciplinary hearings.
  • Identify training needs with the General Manager and HR Department.

SHEQ Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, enforce, and ensure compliance with all aspects of safety, environmental, and quality standards, while promoting high levels of adherence and compliance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of your team's work areas and report any issues outside of your control to the General Manager.
  • Ensure all subcontractors comply with the company's SHEQ requirements while on-site.
  • Investigate and resolve accidents and near-misses in collaboration with the General Manager/Production Manager.
  • Ensure proper training and understanding of risk assessments and standard operating procedures for all team members.
  • Create risk assessments and SOPs as needed.
