Role Responsibilities of Quality Supervisor: As a Quality Supervisor, you will share the responsibility for managing the Quality Assurance Team and Hygiene Team across all shifts, ensuring the factory is always compliant and audit ready. Your key responsibilities will include: Quality Team Management:
- Lead regular shift handovers and quality meetings with your team.
- Ensure all shifts are covered with respective skills, including managing holiday schedules.
Quality Management System / Audits / Retailers:
- Ensure the site Quality Management System (QMS) is organised, maintained, and kept up to date.
- Conduct complaint and internal investigations.
- Keep weekly KPI slides up to date.
- Accompany the pest control team during routine and biologist visits.
- Collect and send samples for laboratory testing (e.g., micro, gluten-free, water, listeria, acrylamide, hand-swabbing) and report out-of-spec results to drive corrective action.
- Manage site stock on hold and release log.
- Ensure the supplier log is kept up to date.
- Serve as a point of contact for raw material suppliers and customers on issues that could affect food safety, quality, or legality.
- Conduct traceability exercises for mock recalls and customer/BRC audits within a four-hour timescale.
- Conduct annual CCP validations for metal detection and sieving.
- Conduct internal audits as per schedule.
- Ensure check weighers are correctly set and annually serviced by contractors.
- Ensure external calibration of equipment is maintained (e.g., check weighers, metal detectors, probes, scales, ovens).
- Participate in customer/BRC audits.
- Maintain site production paperwork organization and archive maintenance.
- Assist the technical manager with gap analysis of new retailer codes of practice.
- Attend site HACCP & Gluten-Free team meetings.
- Work closely with site teams (e.g., engineering, production, warehouse) to drive quality.
- Ensure GMP audits and procedures/CCP audits take place.
General Administrative / Samples:
- Ensure factory weekly walkabouts are up to date.
- Ensure technical KPIs are monitored and presented weekly to allow identification of improvement plans.
- Understand, implement, and review quality systems associated with food production to agreed safety and quality standards.
- Manage plant shutdown to achieve a clean, food-safe plant with low micro and gluten-free counts.
Qualifications & Experience required for Quality Manager:
- Previous experience in a similar role as a Quality Manager.
- Knowledge of retailer requirements, alerts, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in computer system packages (Excel, Word).
- Up-to-date knowledge of food legislation and its interpretation.
- Self-starter, motivated and able to motivate others
- Ability to work accurately and methodically.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Willingness to get involved.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work objectives.
