Principal Civil Structural Engineer 


Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Civil Structural Engineer to join one of the UK's leading construction and engineering solutions company on a long term contract basis. This is a contract role, Hybrid and is Outside of Scope of IR35

You will play a key role in delivering expert civil and structural advice, conducting analysis, calculations, and preparing reports and specifications. You'll lead small projects and take charge of sub-tasks from a technical standpoint.

You’ll collaborate closely with BIM teams, other disciplines, construction personnel, and stakeholders to communicate designs effectively. Occasionally, you will travel for site visits, design reviews, and client meetings across the Northwest region. Additionally, you’ll support and mentor junior team members, while also driving value engineering solutions. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide civil and structural advice, perform analysis, and prepare calculations, reports, and specifications.
  • Lead small projects and sub-tasks, taking full technical responsibility.
  • Communicate designs clearly to BIM teams, construction personnel, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct site visits, design reviews, and client meetings within the Northwest region.
  • Support junior engineers and promote their growth within the team.
  • Implement and challenge value engineering solutions.
  • Maintain a confident and authoritative approach in client interactions.

Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years of experience in civil and structural design.
  • At least 10 years of experience within the nuclear industry, covering all stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Experience with both new and historic structures, including optioneering assessments, scope definition, and supporting estimates and business development.
  • Preferred experience with Seismic Design.
  • Minimum of BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • CSCS certification required.
  • Chartership with ICE or IStructE is highly preferred.
