Automation & Control Systems Engineer

Nottingham

  • Circa £42k per annum DOE
  • 33 Days annual leave

We are looking for a skilled Automation Engineer to join our clients Innovation team, focusing on developing, modifying, and implementing software for machinery and automation systems. This role involves hands-on programming, system integration, and continuous improvement. Ideal candidates will have experience in PLC programming, motion control, and network design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal/external experts to develop technical specifications and testing protocols.
  • Design and implement control software for packaging, wrapping, palletising, and related machinery.
  • Integrate equipment with other OEM systems for complete packaging solutions.
  • Maintain project documentation, including change control and updates.
  • Utilise Rockwell hardware/software to enhance machine functionality, safety, and motion control.
  • Develop systems for data collection, visualisation, and communication, integrating IoT solutions for smart machine functionality.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and diagnostics both on-site and remotely.
  • Stay updated with industry innovations and apply them to improve product offerings.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation & Controls, or similar.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in PLC/HMI programming with a focus on motion control.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
  • Willingness to travel internationally (up to 25%).

Desirable Skills

Experience with IoT and industrial PCs.

Knowledge of communication protocols and SAP/MAPICS.

Ability to manage external resources for advanced projects.

Italian language skills (beneficial but not essential).
