Your role will involve hands-on troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement projects that ensure our facility runs smoothly and efficiently.

Job Details of a Engineering Technician 

  • Work closely with the Engineering Supervisor and Production Shift Leader, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager.
  • Actively support continuous production operations, focusing on minimising downtime.
  • Possess strong fault-finding skills in electrical and hydraulic systems, including those with proportional and servo controls.
  • Quickly identify and resolve issues, escalating them when necessary.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of production equipment
  • Ensure high standards of work quality and achieve first-time fixes.
  • Execute all preventive maintenance tasks as per the maintenance schedule, ensuring timely and complete performance.
  • Maintain production equipment to the highest standards.
  • Collaborate closely with the Shift Manager and Engineering Supervisor to meet production requirements with minimal disruption.
  • Assist and collaborate with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), contractors, and other external partn
  • Provide support to OEMs in resolving equipment issues
  • Offer technical support and hands-on training to Shift Leaders and Operatives as needed.
  • Ensure proper use of Barco and EAM systems.
  • Ensure adequate shift coverage during holidays.
  • Understand and maintain compliance with all required standards, including SOPs, Health and Safety regulations, and current legislation.
  • Identify and request necessary parts, assisting stores personnel when required.
  • Follow correct procedures when withdrawing parts from storage areas.
  • Maintain detailed shift logs and complete thorough handovers at the start and end of each shift.

 

Person Specification of a Engineering Technician

  • A solid educational background with strong mathematical skills is essential. An engineering qualification is preferred, ideally at the ONC/HNC level, though relevant work experience will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in a Production/Manufacturing setting, with a track record of working as a Technician and a commitment to maintaining high standards of practice.
  • While experience in Injection Moulding is ideal, it’s not mandatory. Prior experience with factory operations and related services is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills are desirable, with proficiency in Word and Excel being advantageous but not required. Familiarity with PLCs, and an understanding of SAP, Barco, and other production-related software is beneficial.
  • The ability to learn new software is essential.
