We are seeking an exceptional Interim Head of Asset Management to join a London Local Authority team in South London. This pivotal role involves strategic leadership and management of the Property and Asset Management team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across departments and with Heads of Service and Directors to ensure the effective delivery of Council services, aligning with departmental and Council objectives.

We are seeking an exceptional Interim Head of Asset Management to join a London Local Authority team in South London. This pivotal role involves strategic leadership and management of the Property and Asset Management team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across departments and with Heads of Service and Directors to ensure the effective delivery of Council services, aligning with departmental and Council objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Property and Asset Management team, ensuring effective estates planning and asset management.
- Act as the professional lead for all aspects of property services allocations.
- Collaborate with departmental teams and senior management to support the delivery of high-quality services and strategic objectives.
- Lead the establishment and implementation of business planning processes and performance management systems to ensure cost-effective service delivery.
- Manage and deliver customer-oriented services, ensuring successful outcomes and high standards of service.
- Work in partnership with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including statutory bodies and organisations.
- Oversee large public sector building projects through all phases, including pre-planning, planning, and construction.
- Demonstrate an understanding of PPP/PFI projects and the Competitive Dialogue process.
- Navigate the internal workings of a local authority Cabinet/Committee system and relevant policy structures.
- Proven experience in leading a strategic team at a senior level, demonstrating strong customer service and leadership capabilities.
- A successful track record in senior management roles within a local authority or large complex organisation.
- Expertise in establishing and implementing business planning processes and performance management systems.
- Demonstrated excellence in team management and service delivery, particularly in customer-oriented services.
- Experience working with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including statutory bodies.
- In-depth understanding of PPP/PFI projects and large public sector building projects.
- Familiarity with the internal workings of a local authority Cabinet/Committee system and associated policy structures.
- Possess a property professional qualification (e.g., MRICS – Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, RIBA – Member of the Royal Institute of Architects) or equivalent, with a detailed working knowledge of property disciplines.
- Comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of property legislation relevant to the Local Authority sector.
