MEICA Engineer 

Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer  to join one of the UK's leading construction and engineering solutions company on a long term contract basis. This is a long term Contract role with IR35 to be determined pending determination.

In this role, The Ideal Candidate will be responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation systems for major water treatment projects. This role involves taking the client’s preliminary requirements from concept through to installation and commissioning. The successful candidate will be responsible for mechanical design development, subcontractor management, and overseeing on-site activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical designs, including P&ID creation, HAZOP studies, hazard assessments in construction, and design risk assessments.
  • Design and implement MEICA systems for large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Lead the design of wastewater M&E assets such as pumping stations, CSOs, and related civil structures.
  • Test and troubleshoot systems to guarantee efficiency and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Manage on-site activities, including mechanical isolation, approval of mechanical RAMS, and sign-off on mechanical testing and inspections.
  • Develop and review Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) to ensure quality control.
  • Manage project budgets and ensure timely delivery.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in MEICA systems within the water sector.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SCADA systems, and project management software.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering MEICA projects within water or energy infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with HAZOP, RAMS approval, and quality control processes, including inspection and test plans
