Job Description

You've got experience working within an accountancy practice, enjoy producing a set of accounts and doing tax returns for a wide range of small businesses and looking to work somewhere that understands that you have a life outside work.

Office-based, you can flex your hours, even choose part-time over full-time, and work alongside an experienced, long-standing client manager within a firm of about a dozen people, all proud to produce high-quality work for their clients without compromising their own lives.

For someone wanting to progress, there are opportunities available, with the partner continuing to market and promote the practice to win new business. If you want to be a client manager, they will help to work you towards a portfolio of your own.

This is a friendly place, which people don't leave too often. Because as long as the work is done, they are allowed to manage their own time.

Work is 100% accounts preparation, along with tax planning, statutory reporting and payroll. There's no audit as clients are typically small SMEs, sole traders and partnerships, all under the audit threshold.

Everyone here works across a spectrum of duties for their clients, with no separate department for tax or payroll, so staff are experienced. This comes from the support they receive.

You'll work in lovely offices in a central location with dedicated office parking. There are a couple of socials - meals to celebrate the end of the season, for one, but no compulsory events. It's accepted that most people want to come to work, do a good job, get on with their colleagues and go home to their outside lives without pressure to 'perform' by attending unwanted social interactions. That said, if you want to organise team get-togethers, you'll not be discouraged.

Holiday entitlement is 20 days plus 8 bank holidays plus an additional three days to be taken for the Christmas close-down. It's pretty normal too, to have Christmas Eve off as most people here have families and friends they want to spend time with.

A typical full-time working day is 8.30 am to 5.00 pm (with a 60-minute break) Monday to Friday. But it's usual for many to work through much of their break so they can leave earlier. As we said, it's getting the work done and done well that matters, not clocking in and out.

The salary quoted is the full-time equivalent.

This is a great, successful firm which is family-friendly, career-friendly and ready to see your CV. Apply now for an experienced Clarity consultant to review your application.

Those with the right experience and commutable distance will receive an invitation for a no-obligation telephone call to explore the opportunity further.

Anyone not suitable will receive a response accordingly.
