Senior Mechanical Engineer - London/Hybrid - £53,850 - £80,760 + Benefits

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (M&E) Engineer to join a rail business specialising in High Speed Rail. This key role involves providing technical expertise, assurance, and leadership in Mechanical Design Engineering, ensuring that the design and construction of M&E assets meet project standards and resolving issues as they arise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain standards, specifications, and technical requirements for Mechanical Engineering systems across projects.
  • Provide expert technical advice and support on Mechanical systems to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure M&E system designs on railway projects are configured and installed in accordance with relevant standards and technical requirements.
  • Support issue resolution in accordance with Governance Procedures, ensuring compliance with applicable UK construction regulations.
  • Contribute to the development of M&E systems that meet cost delivery, schedule targets, and integrated functional requirements.
Skills & Knowledge:

Extensive Mechanical Design Engineering background working on Large Building Design, Major Stations or Large projects. Comprehensive knowledge of UK construction regulations, including CDM (Construction, Design, and Management) requirements.

Excellent Stakeholder engagement skills. Familiarity with the Common Safety Method (CSM) for risk evaluation and assessment.

Strong understanding of the regulatory and legislative framework governing M&E systems.

Commercial awareness, including cost management, schedule targets, and delivering integrated engineering solutions.

Experience Required:

Proven experience in managing Mechanical Design Engineering and safety standards for large, complex infrastructure projects.
Experience working on major projects/programmes, with a focus on cost and schedule management in a complex infrastructure environment.
Expertise in balancing competing project and engineering demands while maintaining high-quality standards.
