Highways Site Inspector - Oxford
Rate: £23.63 to £25.26 per hour (umbrella)
Location: Oxfordshire

A Local Authority is seeking a dedicated Highways Site Inspector to join their team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in overseeing the construction and development of new roads and highway assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that new roads and works to existing highways are constructed according to approved drawings.
  • Assist the Lead Site Engineer in delivering high-quality highway infrastructure for adoption by the Council.
  • Adhere to all relevant County Council policies and procedures, raising concerns as needed.
  • Manage a county-wide construction site inspection program, ensuring all development sites are regularly inspected.
  • Conduct inspections for new developments under Section 38, Section 278, and Private Street Agreements, ensuring compliance with design standards.
  • Carry out site inspections autonomously, checking setting out, materials, and workmanship against approved specifications.
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Proven civil engineering construction site experience with a strong understanding of highway infrastructure.
  • Extensive experience in construction site supervision and inspection.
  • Familiarity with various highway construction techniques and their applications.
  • Significant experience supervising complex schemes and developments, including those with over 50 dwellings.
  • Solid understanding of construction materials and the ability to identify issues and recommend solutions.
  • Knowledge of sections 38, 278, 219, and PSAs, as well as NRSWA, with the ability to provide informed advice.
