Interim Head of Pensions and Treasury
Location: North London/Hybrid
Salary: £800 per day (umbrella)


Overview:
A North London Local Authority is seeking an experienced professional to lead the in-house Pensions and Treasury team. As the Head of Pensions and Treasury, you will play a pivotal role in managing the Council's Local Government Pension Scheme and providing exceptional leadership on all pension-related matters. .

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the in-house pensions team, overseeing the implementation of pension policy and managing relationships with external service providers, including investment managers and consultants.
  • Provide expert guidance to Council’s Pension Fund Committee and Local Pension Board to support their decision-making processes.
  • Ensure the efficient administration of the Pension Scheme, delivering high-quality services to members and participating employers.
  • Optimise funding policy and maintain compliance with statutory policies, ensuring timely production and audit of annual accounts.
  • Develop and implement the Council’s Treasury Management Strategy aligned with the Medium Term Plan.
  • Advise the S151 officer and elected representatives on treasury management decisions, maintaining a robust control framework and adhering to Treasury policies and practices.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in a similar role within a large local authority, with expertise in both pensions and treasury management.
  • CIPFA (or other CCAB) qualified.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a team.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality services.
  • A strategic thinker with a deep understanding of pension regulations and treasury management principles.
