Principal C&I Engineer

Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Principle C&I Engineer to join one of the UK's leading construction and engineering solutions company on a long term contract basis. This is a contract role, Hybrid and is Outside of Scope of IR35.

As a Principal C&I Engineer you will  lead a variety of client-facing projects in the Energy, Oil & Gas, and Nuclear sectors. You will play a key role in delivering projects from concept studies to detailed design, taking responsibility for both the technical and managerial aspects of the work. As the Lead Engineer, you will guide your team to success, ensuring project delivery meets high standards and client satisfaction. This is a hands-on role with a focus on providing expert technical input while also mentoring and organizing your team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the control and instrumentation (C&I) discipline for projects and proposals, ensuring technical input is accurate and timely.
  • Review, prepare, and approve engineering documentation to meet project requirements.
  • Manage, support, and mentor your team, allocating work and ensuring delivery against project schedules and budgets.
  • Prepare scopes of work and ensure high-quality delivery of C&I engineering tasks in collaboration with our supply chain.
  • Ensure compliance with all national and international codes of practice, legislation, and client standards.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electronic, Electrical, or Control Engineering (Apprenticeships may also be considered).
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with a relevant professional body, or working towards achieving these titles.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in the Oil & Gas, Nuclear, or Energy sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of UK legislation and industry standards.
  • Experience in the installation of equipment in potentially explosive areas within process plants.
  • Familiarity with CE marking of plant and equipment, including ATEX, PED, Low Voltage Directive, Machinery Directive, and EMC Compliance.
  • Awareness of HSE requirements and experience in risk identification, quantification, and management.
