Classic Car Engine Builder / Vehicle Technician 
  • Monday - Friday 38.75 hours per week
  • £37.2k Basic DOE

Our client, a well-known independent vehicle restoration business who gave been trading and representing one of Britain's most Iconic brands for over 25 years, based in the Hampshire area are currently seeking an experienced Automotive Engine Builder for their world renowned classic car business operation.

Our client covers a multitude of widely varying work from general servicing, repairs and upgrades, race, international rally, event preparation and race support to full restorations. Our client would be interested in hearing from ex RAF / Navy engineers or somebody from the Aviation industry as well as Automotive motor engineers. 

Our client's bespoke Automotive specialisms are: 
  • Workshop Specialising in servicing, updates, restoring and rally preparation 
  • Parts manufacture and supply (worlds largest stock holding) 
  • Vehicle sourcing and sales 
  • Motorsport Event preparation and delivery 
This role would suit somebody with an interest in historic vehicles or racing and race prep-ideally with some mechanical engineering understanding.

As an Classic Car Engine Builder / Vehicle Technician for our client your day to day duties will include: 
  • Strip & assess; fully build and test complete 1920's & 1930's engines; including on-car fault finding and setup
  • Requires very strong mechanical engineering fitting skills; knowledge of carburettors and magneto / coil ignition systems
  • Sound mechanical diagnostic skills developed through manual experience are required along with the ability to understand, report in detail, and rectify vehicle issues/faults.
  • Event and race preparation, attendance and support. Attend and assist with dynamometer & rolling-road sessions
  • Quality control, tidiness and attention to detail are an absolute necessity
  • Keep meticulous build notes and records
  • Transferable skill set to provide technical support in the workshop when required to meet business needs 
Classic Car Engine Builder / Vehicle Technician Salary:
  • For the successful technician our client is looking to offer a salary around £37,200 dependent on experience and skills.

  • All tools and equipment supplied.
Working Hours of this Classic Car Engine Builder / Vehicle Technician role:
  • The working hours are Monday – Friday with 1 hour lunch and 30 minute tea breaks either side. Please note our client offers early finishes on Friday for a better work life balance.
