Looking for your next Materials Buyer role in a business that can offer you a simple chain of command, a relaxed non-PLC environment and the chance to work with a Procurement Manager who's looking to train you up into a better and more skilled Construction Buyer? Then read on, do abit of nodding in between (“yes, this sounds like abit of me”) and pick up the phone at the end.

This family business, who go quietly about their work with none of the ‘in-your-face’ approach you get at some builders, are looking to add a Buyer to their compact team as the person I placed into the role a couple of years ago is now heading into retirement - happy trails, fella!

They are a small, close-knit team in the office (it'd be your plus a Procurement Manager) and as the second Buyer coming into the business you'll ideally have used COINS at some point in the past. If you're an experienced Assistant Buyer looking to step up, or work slightly outside of housebuild (for a subbie, for example), we can still chat as they'd be happy to train up the right person.

There's no ego's here and the culture is one of placing responsibility, not blame, on the personnel within the business.  They only fully established their Procurement department at the start of 2020 with an experienced gent joining as the 'Head Of' who'd previously spent years running the Buying departments of some of the major contractors in the Northwest - he definitely knows his stuff, comes highly recommended from other senior construction professionals and is looking to improve you, too.

Offering a package of early £30,000's up to £40,000 plus car allowance, pension, a company-wide bonus, soon to be brand new offices and a general really great place to work (from my feedback on over 20+ placements in the last 5 years), if you want a place realise your potential or if you’ve been stuck in a grinding machine elsewhere I’d say this is the place to be.

I have worked with this company for several years and the biggest compliment I can give them is even the people that do move on never have a bad word to say about them – they must be doing something right.
Summary:

  • Materials Buyer wanted for growing housebuild contractor

  • Projected to be running around 12 live sites in 2025 – you would eventually be responsible for 40-50%.

  • Immediate start for the right candidate and offering salary between £35,000 to £40,000 plus package
