Job Description
You will become the Engineering guru, forming a Tripartite with the Head of Commercial and the Head of Delivery, to manage the development of a state of the art Depot for a major new infrastructure project, north of Birmingham. The depot will house critical facilities, including rolling stock maintenance, operational headquarters and training hubs, and will become a significant local employer. This is top down project engineering function taking a wide view of all of the engineering challenges, not a specific detailed single discipline design role. You will need to work across all of the rail engineering challenges, drawing on subject matter experts from across the project, in areas such as Signalling, Rolling Stock, OLE, Track.
The site is a mini railway system in it's self, with various stakeholders involved both on the depot, but in the wider community. You will be acutely aware of the Environmental considerations, urban integration and community impact. The project's civil and construction works are well underway, and you will start to lead the project engineering for Deport as the Systems contracts are being awarded, giving access to work on new technologies.
You will not be developing this in a vacuum, as other depots are being built by different teams, and of course so are major new railway stations. Consequently a truly fascinating project, that will see you go from design, to construction to test and commissioning. We therefore are looking for someone that has both design and build experience, with strong knowledge of CDM regulations, Railway engineering in a multidisciplinary environment with great stakeholder management skills.
It will be a pivotal industry project on a major industry scheme.
