Position: Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer
Location: Bristol, Manchester, Silchester, or Glasgow (with flexibility for occasional work at client sites)
Clearance - SC Clearance is required or ability to Obtain

About the Role:
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer to contribute to critical defence-related projects across the UK. In this role, you’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide leadership in developing safety cases, ensuring the safe delivery of complex nuclear projects, from design and construction to decommissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and implement nuclear safety case strategies, providing expert guidance throughout project lifecycles.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure designs are informed by safety considerations.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, project teams, and regulatory bodies (e.g., DNSR, ONR) to support efficient and compliant project delivery.
  • Perform comprehensive safety analyses, including HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, and HAZAN.
  • Prepare detailed safety documentation, such as PSRs, PCSRS, and ALARP reports.
  • Support engineering substantiation processes to meet safety and quality standards.
  • Oversee safety case projects and lead technical teams, ensuring successful outcomes in terms of quality, budget, and timelines.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Extensive experience in nuclear safety, particularly within defence or other highly regulated environments.
  • A degree in physics, mechanical engineering, or a similar field, with a minimum classification of 2:1 (or equivalent).
  • Chartered status, or working towards achieving it.
  • Strong engineering knowledge, with a proven ability to apply technical principles and sound judgment.
  • A passion for innovation and problem-solving, particularly with a focus on digital tools and advancements in nuclear safety.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively.
  • A collaborative and approachable nature, capable of fostering strong professional relationships.
