Interim Business Continuity Programme Manager
Location: North London / Hybrid
Rate: £38.50 per hour (Umbrella)

A London Local Authority is seeking an Interim Business Continuity Programme Manager to provide essential cover for a vacancy due to shared parental leave. Reporting directly to the Emergency Planning and Resilience Manager, this role is crucial in ensuring the resilience of the council essential services.
This is a hybrid role, requiring at least two days per week in the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and maintain a robust Business Continuity Programme aligned with national guidance, professional standards, and best practices.
  • Oversee governance arrangements, ensuring adherence to the Corporate Business Continuity Policy and reporting to senior officers and Member boards.
  • Develop and manage the Business Continuity Risk Register, identifying key risks and implementing resilience-building activities.
  •  Lead the annual Business Impact Analysis (BIA) process, assessing vulnerabilities and reporting key findings.
  • Maintain and update the Corporate Business Continuity Plan, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities.
  • Design and deliver training, testing, and exercises to validate business continuity plans and enhance organisational resilience.
  • Provide expert advice to Heads of Service and Senior Managers, improving the resilience of critical services.
  • Drive cyber resilience initiatives, collaborating with Digital Services and Risk Management to develop training and response strategies.
  • Lead on resilience assurance reporting, ensuring compliance with Resilience Standards for London and internal governance frameworks.

About You:

🔹 2+ years’ experience as a Business Resilience Practitioner in a medium to large organisation.
🔹 Recognised qualifications or professional development in Business Continuity Management.
🔹 In-depth knowledge of business continuity standards, best practices, and risk management.
🔹 Strong leadership skills with experience in managing staff and project teams.
🔹 Confident in reporting to senior leadership and external resilience bodies.
