Senior EC& I Engineer
Due to continued growth, opportunities have arisen for Senior EC&I Engineer to support a large UK Nuclear Sector Client on a long term contract (Outside IR35) . This contract role requires SC Clearance, with the ability to obtain DV Clearance. The position offers a hybrid work model, with a minimum of 2 days in the office every two weeks, and can be Outside IR35 (pending determination).
The Senior EC&I Engineer will play a crucial role in the design and delivery of electrical, control, and instrumentation systems across various nuclear projects. This position requires a strong background in producing detailed CE&I design concepts, ensuring compliance with British and European standards, and client specifications. The role also involves managing design documentation, overseeing commissioning activities, and ensuring functional safety requirements are met.
Responsibilities:
- Develop CE&I design concepts including SLDs, BCDs, cable schedules, and layouts.
- Knowledgeable in control system hardware and software, with experience in Functional Safety (BSEN 61508 & 61511).
- Maintain Technical Files and LTQR in compliance with Quality Management Systems.
- Ensure designs address operability, maintainability, and safety concerns.
- Produce design justification reports and functional safety documentation (FDS, SIDD, Functional Safety Plan).
- Proficient in AutoCAD for interpreting and creating EC&I engineering drawings.
- Contribute to bid support by providing technical expertise and cost estimation.
- Compile and manage design and engineering documentation for internal approvals and client presentations.
- Maintain effective relationships across departments and stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Respond to client inquiries and support tender and contract reviews with technical and commercial insights.
- Assist in the preparation of tender responses, cost estimates, and contract variations.
Qualifications
- Candidates will be expected to undergo UK Security Vetting to DV level; hence, they must be British Nationals and have resided in the UK for the past 10 years. Essential
- Relevant Engineering Degree, HNC, or equivalent experience – Essential
- Membership of appropriate technical/professional body – Desirable
- IOSH Managing Safely or Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace or equivalent
- Extensive engineering experience in design and manufacturing – Essential
- Expertise in electrical systems design, low voltage control gear, and control systems – Essential
- Familiarity with drawing principles, CE marking, AutoCAD – Desirable
- Knowledge of machine safety directives, functional safety, HAZOP/HAZID – Desirable
