Job Title: Shunter Driver
We are looking for a Class 1 Shunter driver to join our team in Crick. This role involves safely moving HGV vehicles in and out of the garage for servicing, repairs, and MOTs. In addition, you will assist with brake testing and deck testing, ensuring all vehicles meet the required safety standards.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Safely operating company vehicles to transport goods between depots.
- Conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicles are in top condition.
- Following all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Moving trailers to and from the workshop.
- Handling general yard duties to keep everything running smoothly.
- Assisting with brake tests and deck tests at the MOT centre.
What We’re Looking For:
- A Class 1 License.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience driving large vehicles in a commercial or industrial setting.
- Ability to operate vehicles safely in various weather conditions.
- Strong understanding of traffic laws, safety regulations, and vehicle maintenance.
- Excellent communication skills and a team player.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills for accurate documentation and timely deliveries.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with inter-depot transportation or delivery services.
- Knowledge of GPS navigation and route planning.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and logistics processes.
Working Conditions:
- Driving company vehicles between depots, with some loading and unloading.
- General yard duties to support the smooth operation of the yard.
- Exposure to loud noises, fumes, and other industrial hazards.
This role starts as a temporary position but has the potential to become permanent. It’s a fantastic way to maybe even secure a long-term position.
