**Technical Author – Defence Framework Projects** Outside of scope of IR35 pending determination

A leading design and project management contractor is seeking a Technical Author to join their team in Reading, working across a variety of projects within their Defence framework. Due to the nature of the work, current SC clearance is essential.

**Role Overview:**

This role presents a unique chance to contribute to critical nuclear industry installation projects by preparing, originating, and presenting complex technical documentation to an exceptional standard. This includes Safe Systems of Work (SSoW’s), Method Statements (MS), Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s), Risk Assessments (RA), and Lift Plans (LP).

**Role Responsibilities:**

- Conduct research, analysis, and evaluation of technical/engineering documentation and surveys of the working environment.
- Develop a thorough understanding of production processes in buildings to accurately write documentation.
- Manage the preparation of supporting and affected documents, updating them in line with Engineering Changes.
- Liaise with design engineers, SMEs, project engineers, and Health and Safety professionals, reporting back to Project Management/Construction Managers on documentation status.
- Ensure all documents adhere to applicable safety, environmental, and quality standards, company procedures, policies, and relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Review sub-contractor documentation and drawings, providing insightful comments.

**Qualifications and Skills:**

- Experience in Infrastructure Projects within highly regulated sectors such as Nuclear, Aerospace, Pharmaceutical, Rail, or Oil & Gas.
- Educated to ONC/HNC or equivalent level in engineering, with extensive experience in electrical or mechanical systems within the Nuclear Industry being desirable.
- Proficiency in IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Proven ability to create, develop, and originate working documentation for installations.
- Capability to obtain, hold, and sustain high-level security clearance throughout the contract is essential.
