Job Title: Senior Project Engineering Manager (Energy Transition Pipeline Projects)
Location: Hybrid (3 days per week at Manchester Office)
Expected Duration: 2-3 years, with potential for extension for additional projects
Company Overview:
Due to continued growth, our client, a leading company in the energy sector, is seeking a Senior Project Engineering Manager to lead their Engineering Design teams delivering FEED (Front End Engineering Design) and EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management) energy transition pipeline projects in the Teesside area.
Role Overview:
As the Senior Project Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of multiple, multi-disciplinary engineering design projects within the energy transition sector. You will manage onshore projects through various stages of the project lifecycle, ensuring that they meet schedule, budget, safety, and quality requirements. Reporting directly to the Project Director, you will manage a team of Project Engineering Managers for each project and act as the key point of contact between various stakeholders.
The role is hybrid, with three days per week (Tuesday to Thursday) based at the Manchester office, along with regular business travel to the Teesside project delivery office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the delivery of multiple engineering design projects for end Client, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and safety and quality requirements.
- Identify and effectively utilise engineering resources to maximize productivity and efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure all engineers understand the detailed scope, basis of design, and project requirements, including budget and programme timelines.
- Coordinate engineering and design interfaces between Client, project partners, and supply chain partners, ensuring smooth project execution.
- Manage contractual communications, including progress meetings, risk reduction meetings, and cost reports.
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams and ensure contract actions are run and closed out effectively.
- Regularly report to senior operational management on the performance of engineering delivery for the project.
- Provide a commercial focus, challenging project scope to protect against uncontrolled scope creep.
- Foster strong project relationships by communicating effectively with colleagues, subordinates, and stakeholders, promoting trust and teamwork.
- Lead by example, upholding the highest standards of safe and ethical behaviour to ensure safe and reliable operations and client satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, as well as client requirements, to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel involved.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Degree qualified or equivalent in an engineering discipline (essential).
- Professional Qualification (e.g., CEng or equivalent) is preferred.
- Project Management qualification or accreditation (e.g., APM) is preferred.
- Significant experience in an Engineering Manager role on FEED & EPC projects for onshore brownfield oil & gas facilities, gas pipelines, and/or energy transition projects.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coordinate and manage multi-disciplinary teams.
- A strong understanding of project management principles, with the ability to balance commercial, technical, and safety aspects.
- A proven track record of successful project delivery, meeting or exceeding client expectations and project goals.
