Job Description

I’m seeking a West Midlands-based, permanent Project Manager to join a client on the Rail Systems function of “the largest” infrastructure project. While the package of works is technical, there is a matrix of technical, engineering, and commercial teams, so the focus here is on the “pure project management function.”

This role encompasses planning and scheduling, resource management, risk management, budgeting and cost control, stakeholder communication, quality assurance, and performance monitoring to ensure the successful delivery of the OCS (Overhead Contact System) elements of the project.

You should have several years of project management experience, ideally gained through the design and build phases of infrastructure schemes. This is not a delivery-biased PM role typically found in construction management. While the team is responsible for the Overhead Contact System, you do not need to have been an OLE or Electrification Engineer. Experience in multi-disciplinary rail projects or other power and wiring networks, such as those managed by UK Power Networks, National Grid, and regional power networks, is valuable.

Given the scale of the project, there is a substantial project management team, so I am interested in talking to any permanent project manager who feels they can contribute to this project, regardless of the scale of projects they have previously managed. Think function over scale initially.

The client is committed to supporting your career development, including those working towards formal APM accreditation and Chartership
