Configuration Controller - Birmingham/Hybrid
Salary: £36,300 - £52,152.50


Our client, a High Speed Rail Organisation, is recruiting for a Configuration Controller. This role supports and governs the technical authority communication and technical change process, acting as the focal point for all change-related matters. The Configuration Controller will assist Configuration Managers with CSR submissions and Contract Baseline administration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create/register technical authority communications/Technical Change Requests (TCRs) in Bentley.
  • Check TAC/TCR quality prior to TAuP to ensure they are fit for governance board approval.
  • Review governance board minutes and approve TACs/TCRs in the Configuration Management (CM) tool based on board approvals, and communicate CM tool approval to stakeholders and originators.
  • Prepare submission packs (Technical Change Requests, TACs, etc.) for governance board meetings, advising the secretariat of items ready for presentation.
Skills:
  • Ability to coach the engineering/project team to successfully achieve CM change delivery milestones.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including working with CM Team, Delivery Team, PMO, and managing CM change/communication interfaces.
  • Proficiency in performing and managing the technical change process from start to finish.
  • Strong data input and analysis skills.
  • Ability to think ahead and work independently.
Knowledge:
  • Understanding of Configuration Management Standards (Def Stan 05-57/EIA-649/ISO 10007/ICM CMII/CMMI).
  • Knowledge of railway industry standards and business operations.
  • Understanding of systems lifecycle and change lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in MS Office packages.
  • Knowledge of Technical/Quality Assurance principles is an advantage.
Experience:
  • Background working as a Configuration Controller within industries such as Engineering, Air Defence, Nuclear Defence, or Manufacturing.
  • Experience in multi-discipline cross-functional environments across different industries and all parts of the system lifecycle.
  • Experience maintaining a change control process within a complex programme environment.
This role would suit a Graduate Systems Engineer with 2+ years of experience. Ideal candidates will have extensive stakeholder engagement skills and a desire to move into the Configuration field.
